It is effective for managing abdominal cramps, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), period pain (dysmenorrhoea), bladder and biliary spasms, and for easing bloating and spasm-type pain associated with diverticular disease.

Contraindications (Safety Warnings): Use with caution in patients with glaucoma or specific heart conditions. Seek medical advice immediately if severe, unexplained abdominal pain persists, worsens, or occurs together with symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel movements, abdominal tenderness, decreased blood pressure, fainting, or blood in the stool.

Side Effects (Adverse Reactions): Potential side effects include dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty or painful urination, lightheadedness, headache, and blurred vision.
