Product Name & Strength: Emzor Zolat Albendazole Suspension, 100 mg/5 mL, 20 mL.
Indications (Approved Uses): Indicated for the treatment of single or mixed intestinal parasites, including Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworm), Taenia spp. (tapeworm), and Strongyloides stercoralis. It is also effective in the treatment of Giardia (duodenalis, intestinalis, or lamblia) infections in children.
Contraindications (Safety Warnings): Albendazole is teratogenic and embryotoxic and must not be taken by pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy or by women who are likely to become pregnant, during or shortly after the course of therapy. It is contraindicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to Albendazole or any constituents. Safety has not been adequately established in children under one year of age.
Side Effects (Adverse Reactions): Reported side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, and dizziness. Hypersensitivity reactions including rash, pruritus, and urticaria have been reported less frequently.
Nutritional Information (per 5 mL): Albendazole 100 mg.
Instructions for Use / Dosage: For oral administration. The usual dose for adults and children over two years of age is 20 mL (400 mg) as a single dose. For children between one and two years of age, the usual dose is 10 mL (200 mg) as a single dose. In cases of heavy mixed infestation involving Strongyloides or Taeniasis, the dose may be administered for three consecutive days. For Giardiasis in children over two years of age, the dosage is 400 mg daily for five days.
